I had a great group of folks on the 2011 Rainier Photo Tour. We saw lots of sights and took lots of pictures. I was a bit concern because of the late season, which I would say was about four weeks behind due to the heavy winter snow and cool spring. Nevertheless, flowers were springing up between patches of snow, and the weather cooperated, allowing lots of mountain shots from various view points as well as other wonderful subjects.
There was still plenty of snow on the slopes above Paradise mid-August. This is Edith Creek looking north to the mountain

Sunrise region was more snow-free and wildflowers such as lupines and Indian paintbrushes gave lots of color to the slopes

We visited Reflection Lake each morning, and each morning presented a different scene.

The last morning a fox trotted down the road, seemingly ignoring us, and carrying about its business of surviving.

Paradise Falls, at least part of it

Lower slopes of Mazama Ridge

Lots of avalanche lilies blooming as the snow retreats

Some not waiting.

Snow Lake, our last stop of the tour
Here are a couple responses from this year's tour.
Thank you for a great trip to Mt. Rainier! I certainly accomplished my goal of finding an instructor who could put me in the right place at the right time. And on top of that I enjoyed everyone's company! T.B.
The trip to Mt. Rainier was everything and more that I could have wished for. The people this class brought together were delightful, the available photo locations were spectacular and the weather co-operated so nicely, and the instructor (that's you Bruce) was/is warm and fun and gifted in teaching. Thank you again, Bruce, and I look forward to viewing photos from out time together. K.W.
I will be conducting another Rainier tour in 2012, and plan to have specific dates online within the the next month. So stay tune.
