I've returned to Ridgefield Wildlife Refuge a couple of times in the last week, and I'm always impressed as to what's there. Every time I visit there is something different. Although I have lots of shots of Killdeer, I can never pass up another opportunity. They are very accommodating. Overcast lighting is great for birding; the only problem is that you have to crank up your ISO to get sharp images. This one was taken at ISO 640, f/8 at 1/500 second. A friend of mine was also at the refuge, and he had spotted a pair of Virginia Rails that morning. He was kind enough to show me the exact location. However, I sat and waited and waited, but they never showed themselves. So it goes.
I have set my 2010 workshop/tour schedule. if you care to join me on any of my expeditions, call me or pass along an email. For those you who would like more information about my photo workshops, I do have PDF files for each of my tours, which I can pass on to you upon request .

Also, any images that you view on the website are available as fine art prints. For sizes and prices check here. I also have a new page entitled Black and White, which includes some of favorite images that are created in the old-fashion way.
Thanks for tuning in.
